Crossroad
community dance
With the support of the British Council in Athens. In collaboration with the Isadora Duncan Dance Research Centre as part of the Vyronas Summer Festival.
Crossroad, a theatre dance work, performed by a group of 40 non-professional performers living in the municipality of Vyronas. The remarkable power of this group, which was made up of people aged from two to over seventy, thrilled the audience.
Crossroad has been created by award-winning UK-based choreographer Luca Silvestrini and aims to bring together the community in order to celebrate its richness and diversity through dance and physical expression. Luca has made numerous visits to nursery schools, schools and centres for the elderly in the Municipality of Vyronas to recruit and work with the performers.
Crossroad explores the relationship between tradition and modernity through an entertaining yet touching portrait of how we feel and think at different stages of our lives, and is inspired by the everyday while at the same time searching for the extraordinary.
